Barossa's Shiraz is Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart. Dandelion Vineyards is a unique fusion of vine and vigneron. Our wines represent decades of experience, blending the fruit of our heirloom vineyards with the finest traditions of artisan winemaking. Dandelion Vineyards are proven plantings that have stood the test of time. Our wish is to nurture the unique character of these vineyards and express their terroir in our wines. Capturing variety, vintage and vineyard requires an enlightened approach and although our growers see the Devil in every weed, we encourage the humble Dandelion amongst the vines as they suppress winter weeds, provide mulch in summer, and proffer their wishing clocks in spring to blow off to make our wish come true. Our Lionheart is so named for Dandelion's lifelong champion of old Barossa vines, Carl Lindner. This wine comes from his ancient, gnarled vines, some approaching and many over a hundred years of age that not only survive but thrive on their own roots in some of the oldest soils on the planet. In the last two weeks of March whole bunches of Shiraz were hand harvested, then gently crushed and naturally fermented in open fermenters for eight days, hand plunged twice a day, before careful basket pressing into some new but predominately older French Oak Barriques to finish fermentation. After 18 months maturation and a racking in the same oak, we bottled our Lionheart without filtration or firing, to capture the essence of Carl's vines. Dandelion Vineyards Lionheart is ready to drink and will reward cellaring and decanting. Wish you were here. Latitude 34 degrees 37 feet 18 inches South, Longitude 138 degrees 52 feet 34 inches East. Altitude 724 feet = 221 meters. www.dandelionvineyards.com.au. 14.5% alc./vol. Viticulture and vinification by Dandelion Vineyards 55 Basedow Road Tanunda South Australia 5352. Proudly imported by Vine Street Imports, Mt. Laurel NJ 08054. www.vsimports.com. Wine of Australia.
