Kosher for Passover and all year round. Regular Matzah Mehudar. On the Eve of Passover, all chametz found during the search is burned. Made with Israeli Matzah. Removal of leavened bread (chametz). As the Israelites were in haste to flee from Pharaoh's oppression, the loaves they made were unleavened. Every year, with the commemoration of Passover, all leavening is removed from the house and only unleavened matzah will remain. The night before Passover, immediately after sundown, the house must be searched for leavening (code of Jewish law, Orach Chayyim 431:1). The procedure involves a candle to light the way, a feather that acts as a broom and a wooden spoon to scoop up the pieces of bread. When the candle is lit, the formula of annulment is recited: all leavened food and grain fermentation that are in my possession, that I have not seen or removed, shall be null and considered as the dust of the earth. The following morning, usually sometime between 10 and 11 o'clock, the leavening is burned. The original drawings on the various Osem Matzah products were created for Osem by two very talented Israeli artists, and they illustrate the important events of the Hagadah: The Red Sea Crossing, the Delivery of the 10 Commandments, the Burning Bush, etc. Enjoy the quality Israeli Matza in this box and use the illustrations on the boxes [and stories on the back] to review the Exodus events as you gather with your family at the table throughout the Passover week.
